Staten Island, N.Y.  - May 5, 2010- After putting up a tough fight, but suffering a disappointing loss to the No. 1 team in the country, Virginia, last weekend, the Robert Morris University Colonials headed into competition against Wagner on Wednesday afternoon with a lot of motivation. The Colonials dominated the first three quarters of action, reeling off 16 unanswered goals that led to a 22-4 triumph.

With the victory the Colonials concluded the 2010 campaign with a 10-5 overall record, marking their best finish in program history, while the Seahawks dropped to 1-14. In the win, RMU had more players score goals than any other game in the season with 15 making a dent on the scoreboard. Four tallied multiple goals and seven grabbed multiple points.

RMU immediately took control of the contest when junior Keith Lee (Hudson, Ohio / Western Reserve Academy) opened with a face-off win, which led to a shot by junior Patrick Smith (Westminster, Md. / Westminster). His first shot was saved, but Taylor Caparosa (Annapolis, Md. / Annapolis) found the rebound and tossed it back to Smith who fired it in for the first goal of the contest 44 seconds in.

The Colonials fired off several more shots that went wide or struck post over the next several minutes, but Kevin Brownell (Burlington, Ontario / Central) was able to put RMU's second mark on the board with 10:49 left to play. A little over a minute later junior Corbyn Tao-Brambleby (Coquitlam, B.C. / Western Reserve Academy) increased the Colonial lead to 4-0 when he struck net on back-to-back plays within a 16 second frame.

Upon entering the second quarter, Tao-Brambleby continued where he left off by scoring RMU's first two goals, making it a 6-0 contest with 12:55 remaining on the clock. Freshman Taylor Graves (Carlsbad, Calif. / Carlsbad) got into the action when he scored an unassisted goal at 3:43.

The Seahawk defense was able to hold off the Colonials for roughly five minutes, but with 6:52 left to play freshmen Mitch Wilde (Brooklin, Ontario / Donald A. Wilson) got his first collegiate score, which was followed 36 seconds later with a Trevor Moore (Port Coquitlam, B.C. / Western Reserve Academy) goal. Another rookie, Jason Hodgson (Beaverton, Ontario / Southridge) also turned in his first goal of the season at 9:45. Moore assisted on the play and then closed out the half with a goal at 10:11 to put RMU up 11-0.

Robert Morris added five goals to its collection in the third frame to give the Colonials a 16-0 advantage. Casey Abbott (San Jose, Calif. / Bellarmine Prep.) scored the first and the following four goals were scored by Colonials earning their first points of the season. Michael Serafin (Richmond, Va. / Monacan) and Stephen Lindsley (Chesterfield, Mo. / Lindenwood University) each grabbed a goal apiece, while senior Brock Arter (Edgewater, Md. / South River) found the net twice within a 12 second span.

Redshirt-Freshman Mike Keegan (Long Island, N.Y. / Commack) opened up play in the fourth quarter with a goal at the 2:47 mark and at 4:05 the Seahawks were finally able to make a mark on the scoreboard when Mike Hurley took advantage of an extra man opportunity. The goal did not deter the Colonials, who followed with two more goals, making it a 19-1 game with 8:55 left to play.

The two squads continued to swap goals for the remainder of the fourth quarter with Jake Hayes (Calgary, Alberta / Central Memorial) concluding the contest, 22-4, by scoring his third goal of the quarter when they were man-down with 1:35 left to play

Tao-Brambleby led the contest with four goals, while Hayes put up a career-best three goals and Arter and Moore each added two goals.

Wagner goalie Michael Gutkin finished the game with 18 saves, while a trio of RMU goalies combined for six stops.

Robert Morris went 21-for-30 from the face-off circle and were perfect on man-up chances, going two-for-two, while holding the Seahawks to just one goal on five extra man opportunities.

The Colonials find out on Sunday, May 9 if they will receive an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. The Division I Selection Show will be televised at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
