Men's Track and Field Places 22nd at IC4A Championship

Princeton, N.J. ? Senior Jeff Witmyer (West Lawn, Pa. / Wilson) was crowned an IC4A Champion and sophomores Duri Greene (Wyndmoor, Pa. / Springfield) and Nasim Siddeeq (New Hampton, N.Y. / Goshen Central) placed in the upper percentile of their respective events, as the Robert Morris University men's track and field team competed at the 132nd IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championship this past weekend at Princeton's Weaver Stadium in Princeton, N.J.

The Colonials collected 18 points from the trio's accomplishments en route to a share of 22nd place with Seton Hall University and Virginia Military Institute. Liberty University won the team title with 62 points, while the University of Virginia followed in second with 55 points and Georgetown University in third with 44.

Witmyer's first place finish in the men's high jump contributed 10 points to Colonials' team total. The four-time NEC high jump champion cleared 6'8.25” in his first attempt to beat out Matt Parker of Liberty for his first-ever IC4A outdoor crown.

Greene added five points to the scorecard by finishing in fourth place in the men's javelin throw. The former NEC Field Athlete of the Week set a new personal record and qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championship with a toss of 61.97m.

Siddeeq rounded out the scoring in the men's triple jump with a sixth place leap of 15.08m, marking the fourth consecutive time this season that he cleared 15m.

Despite not scoring, freshman Chris Spataro (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pine Richland) and senior C.J. Ecalono (Monrovia, Md. / Urbana) put on exceptional performances. Spataro finished in a five-way tie for 13th place with a successful clear of 15'9” in the men's pole vault, while Ecalono placed 14th in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 47.84.

Robert Morris returns to action on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 when the Colonials visit Florida State University for the 2008 NCAA East Regional Championship. Please check back at www.rmucolonials.com for additional details as the meet approaches.
