Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris men's lacrosse team was represented in Coquitlam, British Columbia, at the U-19 World Championships over the summer by sophomore goaltender Remington Steele (Dallas, Texas / Hillcrest). Steele competed as the top goalie for the Canadian team, helping lead the squad to a silver medal after falling 19-12 to the USA in the championship game.
Team Canada competed against 11 teams from all over the world, including the United States, Iroquois Nationals, England, Australia, Germany, Japan, Scotland, Wales, Bermuda, South Korea and Finland.
"Remington gained valuable experience playing at such a high level, and it is only going to help him get better at Robert Morris," said head RMU coach Kenneth Davis. "We are proud that he was able to represent his native country of Canada and we look forward for him to come back this fall to compete for a starting spot."
In the championship game, Steele played for 56:30 minutes, allowing only 13 goals and making nine saves. In Steele's semifinal game against the Iroquois Nationals, he started and played the entire game, making 15 saves to lead Canada to a 23-12 conquest to move into the championship game.
The Colonials finished with a 4-11-0 record in 2008.
