Moon Township, Pa.
- The Robert Morris Colonials, led by third-year head coach Nate Handrahan, and College Hockey America are proud to host the third annual Skate for the Cure event. CHA institutions Mercyhurst, Wayne State, Niagara and Syracuse will also take part in the event. Tickets are priced at $6 and are on sale now.
Each institution in the CHA designates one or two games out of their home schedule and puts all ticket sales and other donations towards breast cancer research. At the end of the CHA Tournament, all of the participating institutions combine funds and make one large donation to a foundation selected by the CHA.
This year, the Colonials' Skate for the Cure event is sponsored by American Eagle and will take place on Friday, Nov. 28 and Saturday, Nov. 29 when the Squad faces off against the Maine Black Bears. Both contests will start at 2:05 p.m.
The campaign was started in 2006 in order to raise funds for breast cancer research. Last year, Robert Morris hosted St. Cloud for the campaign and brought in its largest crowd of the season. The CHA institutions raised over $10,000, with the Colonials leading the way with $3,500. In the past three years, this event has not only raised money for breast cancer, but it has also provided information and awareness about the disease that is the second leading cause of death for women.
