Varsity Wins Sixth Annual Alumnae Game, 6-0

Moon Township, Pa. / North Athletic Complex -- The Robert Morris University women's soccer team took their sixth meeting in the Annual Alumnae Game, handing the former Colonials a 6-0 loss at North Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon. The varsity squad has won each of the first six games.

 

Sophomore midfielder Jaimie Morra (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) led all scorers with a goal and two assists while also registering five shots. Four players ? senior forward Brenda Sasu (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard), junior Daneen Stevenato (North York, Ontario / Newtonbrook) and freshmen Jess Sharik (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin) and Rachel Sebbens (Irwin, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) ? each had a goal and an assist.

 

The Alumnae squad managed eight shots on net with Angela Marino (Story) (2003-06) taking four of those. Amanda Rambo (2000-03) took three and Katie Kirkpatrick (2005-08) had the other.

 

Stevenato opened the game scoring in the fifth minute on a pass from Sharik. The goal would be the only that Alumnae starter Shana Berardi (2001-04) would allow in her thirty minutes in net as she finished with four saves.

 

The varsity squad scored twice in the second 30-minute period with goals by Sebbens in the 35th minute and Sharik in the 44th minute. Junior Caitlyn Lizik (West Mifflin, Pa. / West Mifflin) and freshman Lauren Thomas (Wheeling, W.Va. / Wheeling Park) had assists on the Sebbens' goal and Morra and Stevenato helped on Sieradzki's score. Elizabeth Moss (2005-08) made four saves in the second thrity minutes for the Alumnae squad.

 

Three more varsity goals in the final 30-minute period iced the game. Freshman Holly Sieradzki (Clifton, N.J. / Clifton) scored in the 61st minute followed by Morra in the 71st minute and Sasu in the 88th minute. Jessica Onufer (2005-08) had four saves for the Alumnae.

 

The varsity squad finished with 36 shots. Senior Caitlin Dilal (Rochester, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) had one save and freshman Courtney Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) to combine for the shutout.

 

Amanda Rambo, Katie Siegle (Dugan), Amanda Volker, Amy Volker, Nicole Hilderbrand, Le Anna Hultquist, Kristin Branvold (Roth), Angela Marino (Story), Krystal Robinson (Parentau), Stephanie Kuhn, Hilary Nellis, Christina Nicholson, Katie Kirkpatrick, Elizabeth Moss, Jessica Onufer, Taryn Reichard and Shana Berardi made up the Alumnae team.

 

The Colonials open the regular season Friday, Aug. 29, when they host Youngstown State in a 5:00 p.m. game at North Athletic Complex.
