Colonials Earn Several Top Finishes at Kent State

Kent, Ohio - January 18, 2010 - This past weekend the Robert Morris University women's track and field team traveled to Kent, Ohio to compete in the Doug Raymond Invitational and came home with several top performances. The triple jump squad led the team with five athletes placing in the top ten.

Sophomore Lakeshia McCloud (Bath, N.Y. / Haverling) led the Colonial triple jumpers with a third place finish in the event, leaping to a distance of 11.08 meters. Senior Melitta Brown (York, Ontario / Sacred Heart) placed fifth with a mark of 10.98 meters, freshman Tori Pritchard (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon Area) took sixth with a personal best mark of 10.69 meters, Sophomore Aisha Chisholm (New Rochelle, N.Y. / New Rochelle) finished seventh with a distance of 10.38 meters and freshman Rebecca Kyper (Alexandria, Pa. / Juniata Valley) rounded out the Colonial jumpers with a ninth place finish and a mark of 10.20 meters. Taylor Crawford (Woodbury, Pa. / Northern Bedford) and Justene Delman also performed well in the jumping events, placing eighth and ninth, respectively in the long jump with leaps of 5.08 meters and 5.03 meters.

Sophomore Gabriella Rinehart (Norristown, Pa. / Norristown Area) led the way for the RMU throwers by placing fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 17.36 meters and finishing seventh in the shot put with a heave of 13.15 meters.

In the running events, freshman Kristie Domis (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) represented Robert Morris well by competing in the mile run and crossing the finish line in a time of 5:25.05 to take fifth place. Fellow rookie Maegan Lewis (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) ran the 5000-meter race and placed 10th with a time of 20:13.65.

The Colonials return to action this Friday, January 22 when they host the Robert Morris Invitational at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The meet begins at 5:00 p.m.
