Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's tennis team opened its 2010 spring season Saturday with a 7-0 loss to Wright State. The Colonials fall to 2-4 overall on the 2009-10 campaign with the defeat.
At the No. 1 singles flight, freshman Clarissa Chen (Winnipeg, Manitoba, / Winnipeg Secondary) fell to Kenisha Webb, 6-1 and 6-2, while fellow freshman Samantha Alves (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil / Rio De Janeiro) suffered a 6-2, 6-0 setback at the No. 2 singles to Masha Peresetsky.
Freshman Tiffany Meinert (Turtle Creek, Pa. / Oakland Catholic) battled Amy Nini at the No. 5 singles flight before falling, 6-1 and 6-3.
Robert Morris continues its 2010 spring campaign Friday, Feb. 5, when it hosts Slippery Rock for a 6:00 p.m. match.
