Pace, Gimeno-Martinez Take Choice Hotels NEC Weekly Honors

Moon Township, Pa.-For the second time this season, Robert Morris University basketball senior Angela Pace (Westchester, N.Y. / Woodlands (Monroe College)) and freshman Vega Gimeno-Martinez (Valencia, Spain / Spanish National U-20) are being honored by the Northeast Conference in the same week. Pace is the Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week for the third time this season while Gimeno collects her fourth NEC Rookie of the Week award.

The Colonials swept a pair of contests against Saint Francis (Pa.) last week, using overtime to take a 76-70 decision on Thursday before routing the Red Flashes, 79-48, Saturday afternoon. Robert Morris is now 16-7 and share first place in the NEC with Sacred Heart at 11-1.

Pace posted back-to-back double-doubles, including a near triple-double. She averaged 16.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game. Pace finished Thursday's game 9-of-19, scoring 23 points, one shy of her career best .She added a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with five assists and five steals. Seven of her points came in the overtime session. On Saturday, she came up one assist shy of the third triple-double in team history. She tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds while shoveling out nine assists. She also had three steals.

Gimeno averaged a team-high 18.5 points and 5.0 rebounds during Robert Morris two-game sweep of Keystone State rival Saint Francis (Pa.). She tallied 17 points and six rebounds in the Colonials' 76-70 overtime road win over the Red Flash. She needed only 25 minutes to score a game-high 20 points in the Colonials' ensuing 31-point home victory over Saint Francis. On her way to making 7 of 10 shots from the field, Gimeno-Martinez scored eight points early as the Colonials jumped out to a 15-4 lead and never looked back. Moving up to fifth amongst NEC three-point field goal percentage leaders (.404), Gimeno-Martinez shot 50 percent, making 7 of 14 shots, from downtown last week.

Robert Morris is scheduled to travel to Central Connecticut State for a 5:00 p.m. contest on Thursday, February 11.
