Salituro Named to 2010 CHA All-Rookie Squad

Moon Township, Pa – On Tuesday, freshman Stefan Salituro (Willodale, Ontario / Mahoning Valley Phantoms) of the Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team was named to the CHA All-Rookie Squad. The freshman forward earned the honor for his outstanding play during the 2009-10 season.

Just yesterday, he was named the CHA's Rookie of the Week for the third time this year after tallying two goals in the series against Niagara last weekend.

"Stefan is a skilled player that has certainly contributed to our success during the second half of our season," said head coach Derek Schooley.  "I look for him to continue this trend, and help us in the CHA Tournament this weekend."

Saliutro, who has only played in 23 of the Colonials' 33 games this season, leads all RMU freshmen with fourteen points.  The first-year forward has recorded a total of eight goals and six assists.  His very first career point came on Nov. 14 against Niagara in his first career appearance.  He also netted Robert Morris' third goal in the, 3-1, upset over No.1-Miami University on Jan. 8 at Mellon Arena.

Since mid-January, Salituro has been on fire as he has has earned 10 points in the last 11 contests.  On Saturday, he scored two goals including in unassisted marker at Niagara.

Salituro will join the second-seeded Colonials on Friday afternoon when they hope to defeat #3 Alabama-Huntsville in the first round of the 2010 CHA Tournament.  If Robert Morris defeats the Chargers, they will advance to the CHA championship game to play the winner of the Bemidji State v. Niagara contest.
