Mercatoris Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar

Moon Township, Pa. - C.G. Mercatoris (Brookville, Pa. / Brookville), a finance major, was named a Cleveland Golf / Srixon All-America Scholar. Mercatoris, who just finished his junior campaign on the Robert Morris University men's golf team, is the lone representative from the Northeast Conference.

Mercatoris was Colonials most consistent finisher throughout his three years on the team, including this past season. He led the Colonials last season in scoring average with a 75.4 per 18 holes. In nine events, Mercatories posted three top-five's and seven top-10 finishes. He had his best showing of the season at the Northeast Conference Championship, finishing in a tie for second-place.

In 16 rounds, Mercatoris managed three rounds under par and averaged four strokes over par for the season. During the second round of the season-opening Bucknell Men's Fall Invitational, Mercatoris shot his low-round of the year with an even-par 70. He finished the event in a tie for sixth-place and continued a string of top-10 finishes for the next two events to begin the season.

Mercatoris is among a total of 119 Division I athletes to earn this prestigious honor. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
