Robert Morris Takes Out George Washington For First Win of 2010

Moon Township, Pa. / North Athletic Complex-The Colonials were going to win, that was never in doubt. The real question was whether it would be the Colonials on the Robert Morris University women's soccer team or the squad representing George Washington University. In the end, RMU picked up its first victory of the season, improving to 1-1-1, on a second-half goal by junior forward Ayana Davis (Mt. Laurel, N.J. / Holy Cross). George Washington falls to 0-2.

After briefly losing control of the second half kick-off, freshman Johanna Kadam (Germantown, Md. / Northwest) won the ball back and played it ahead to Davis. Davis took a dribble, beat her defender to the outside and sprinted to goal. When GW goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe came off the line, Davis calmly deposited the ball into the far corner, giving the Colonials a 1-0 lead just 20 seconds into the second half.

George Washington had three chances at the equalizer in the 65th minute, but sophomore keeper Jessica Olin (New Port Richey, Fla. / River Ridge) was up to task. The sophomore lunged left to stop Alex Neal from point-blank range. Jillian Morgan pounced on the rebound, but Olin scrambled back to the right for the save just before recovering in time to redirect Adriana Moya's attempt from 18 yards.

The three-save, six second flurry was part of a career-day for Olin. She not only picked up her eight career shutout, but she set a new career-high for saves with nine. GW counterpart Lindsey Rowe did not register a stop as RMU's only shot on goal found the back of the net.

The Colonials play their next four contests on the road, starting with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Florida Atlantic on September 3.
