Trombetta, Sicinski and Schulze Named Captains

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team named Mallory Schulze (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright), Courtney Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) and Ashley Trombetta (Sykesville, Md. / Century) as its captains for the 2011 season Wednesday.

"I am really excited about our leadership going into our 2010/2011 campaign," head women's lacrosse coach Katy Phillips said. "Our three captains complement each other well and have the ability to lead our very young team.  In addition, our strong core of returning players also have strong leadership skills which will only support these three more."

Schulze, a senior defenseman, started all 15 games for the Colonials in 2010. She totaled 16 ground balls and 13 draw controls in 2010.

"Mallory is returning in the role as a captain from last year and I expect her to continue as a strong leader," Phillips said. "She leads by example both on and off of the field through her work ethic, dedication to her academics, and full commitment to the goals of our program."

Sicinski, a junior on the attack, ranked fourth among the Colonials in points with 21. She scored 14 goals and totaled seven assists while only appearing in 10 games for Robert Morris with nine starts.

"Court is a quiet leader whose work ethic and passion for the game speak for themselves," Phillips said. "After suffering from a season ending injury last year, I believe her drive to get back on the field will set a great example for the team."

Trombetta, a senior midfielder, finished second on the team in points with 47. She led the team in assists with 19, ranked second in ground balls (32) and rated second on the team in defensive controls (30). Trombetta, who earned All-NEC Second Team honors a season ago, ranked sixth in Northeast Conference in points per game in conference contests.

"Trombetta has a fierce desire to win and has been a strong component in our midfield for the past three seasons," Phillips said. "Her leadership stems from her strong character and her direct approach, both of which will be key in leading such a large class of freshman."
