Simmons Appointed to NCAA Academic Cabinet

Moon Township, Pa. - Robert Morris University Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services Sean Simmons was recently appointed to represent the Northeast Conference on the NCAA Academic Cabinet. 

Selected by the NEC, Simmons will serve on an academic cabinet that reports to the Division I Leadership Council on policy issues and the Division I Legislative Council on legislative issues. The cabinet consists of 21 members, with membership rotating among the group in four-year cycles.

The NCAA Academic Cabinet replaced the former Academic/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet and is responsible for all academic matters with the exception of matters addressed by the Committee on Academic Performance.

The following committees report to the NCAA Academic Cabinet:

- High School Review Committee
- Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee
- International Student Records Committee
- Progress-Toward-Degree Waivers Committee
- Student Records Review Committee

Simmons has served as RMU's Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services since 2004. He earned a Bachelor of Degree in finance from Seton Hall University in 1992 and a Master of Science Degree in athletic administration and coaching from James Madison in 1995. He begins his term on the NCAA Academic Cabinet in July.
