Daytona Beach, Fla. / LPGA International -The
Robert Morris University women's golf team is eighth after the first round of
the 2012 Northeast Conference Women's Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. The
event, being played on the Champions Course at the LPGA International complex,
is scheduled for 54-holes over three days.
Fairleigh Dickinson leads after the first round carding a
305 team score on the 6,030-yard par-72 course. LIU Brooklyn (308) is second
followed by Sacred Heart (310), Monmouth (315), Saint Francis (Pa.) (324),
Wagner (325), Central Connecticut State (327), Robert Morris (328), Quinnipiac
(344), Mount St. Mary's (349) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (395).
Junior Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock)
is leading the team after 18 holes sitting in a tie for 14th place. Rinker
tallied 12 pars and seven bogies to register a 79. Senior Elizabeth Wenger (Toledo,
Ohio / Whitmer) sits 22nd overall following her opening round 81. Wenger carded
three birdies during her round.
Two strokes and five places behind the Colonials lone senior
sits sophomore Tess Wolfe (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk). Wolfe highlighted
her round of 83 with a birdie on the par-three third hole. Sophomore Alee Everman (Dayton, Ohio / Centerville), who led RMU in each of its last two
tournaments, carded an 85 and finds herself in a tie for 34th position.
Rounding out the RMU contingent is sophomore Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. /
Center) at 38th. She finished up with an 87.
Round two of the three-round tournament is slated for
Saturday, April 28.
