Former Colonial Urban to Start ECHL All-Star Game

Moon Township, Pa. - A graduate of the 2010-2011 senior class at Robert Morris University, defenseman Denny Urban started his professional hockey career later that year with the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League.  Now in his third season of professional hockey, Urban was recently named a starter for the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game to be held on Jan. 23, 2013.

Urban has spent his entire ECHL career with the Reading Royals and during his tenure the defenseman has put up 82 points in 117 career games.  Urban has scored 28 goals while tallying 54 assists.

Urban joins his teammate from the Reading Royals, Philipp Grubauer, as a member of the starting lineup.  Urban leads all defensemen in the ECHL with 13 goals and 26 points and is tied for first amongst defenders with five power-play goals.  His thirteen goals are a new career high after he scored twelve times last season.  The native of Pittsburgh, Pa. currently ranks second with 91 shots on goal.

This season, Urban got his first taste of the American Hockey League.  In two games with the Worcester Sharks, the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, Urban has registered two assists while maintaining a +2 rating.

The two-day event will start on Jan. 22 with the All-Star Skills Competition before the All-Star Game is played on Jan. 23.  The ECHL All-Stars will face off against the Colorado Eagles in Loveland, Colo.
