RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (4/3/13)
Earning his first RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the 2013 spring campaign and his fifth overall is junior Chris Carper on the outdoor track & field squad. A native of Altoona, Pa., Carper continued his assault on the Robert Morris record book in the javelin this past weekend at the University of Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. He took home first place in the event, posting a toss of 68.42 meters (224’6”). The mark is good enough to rank second all-time at RMU, trailing only the tally of 70.87 meters (232’6”) Carper posted in the 2013 season opener at Wake Forest (3/15/13). Carper now owns six of the top seven distances in the javelin in school history at Robert Morris, and his throw at Virginia allows him to own each of the top two marks in the event in the Northeast Conference so far this season.
