RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (4/10/13)
Senior Andre Coiro of the tennis team takes home the latest RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor after stretching his winning streak to five in dual matches last week. A 2012 All-NEC Second Team selection and a native of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Coiro evened his dual-match record at 9-9 with three victories in matches against Mount St. Mary’s, Coppin State and Saint Francis U. Against the Mount, Coiro posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Mike Zabetakis at the No. 5 singles flight Sunday before moving up two slots and earning a 6-4 and 6-1 victory over Reginald Robinson of Coppin State Monday afternoon. Coiro continued his late-season surge Tuesday in a 4-3 win over the Red Flash, as he defeated Chris Jimenez at the No. 5 flight, 6-3 and 6-2. Owning a record of 6-4 over his last 10 matches, Coiro currently leads Robert Morris in singles victories so far in 2012-13 and has also been part of six wins in doubles action.
