RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (4/17/13)
One of two RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honorees for the April 17, 2013, edition of the weekly accolade is earned by sophomore Aubree Ray of the track & field squad. Ray is bestowed the honor roll after a standout performance at the annual Bennie Benson Memorial Invitational at the RMU Island Sports Center this past weekend on Neville Island. Ray took home a pair of individual titles, winning both the discus and the hammer throw. Her toss of 46.70 meters (153’2”) in the discus not only qualified her for the IC4A/ECAC Championships in the event but also established a new Robert Morris school record. It is also the top mark in the event in the Northeast Conference so far this season. Ray also won gold in the hammer throw with a final tally of 44.94 meters (147’5”).
