RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (4/24/13)
Earning his first career RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor is freshman midfielder Eric Rankel of the lacrosse squad. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Rankel produced a memorable performance @ Sacred Heart (4/20) last weekend, tallying a hat trick with a trio of goals. Thanks to his three scores, Rankel pushed his season totals in goals to 21 and points to 32, establishing new RMU freshman records for both categories. Hi third hat trick of the 2013 campaign allowed Rankel to continue to lead Northeast Conference freshmen in points per game (2.67), goals per contest (1.75) and assists per game (0.92), numbers that also rank in the top 10 nationally among freshmen. For his efforts against the Pioneers, Rankel was tabbed the NEC Rookie of the Week (4/22) for the fifth time in 2013.
