RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (5/29/13)

Wrapping up another year of the RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week is junior Chris Carper of the track & field squad, who earns his fourth of the 2013 spring campaign and ninth of his career. Carper earns the accolade after becoming the first male student-athlete in school history to qualify for the NCAA Championships in track & field. He earned a spot in his signature event, the javelin, by finishing 12th last weekend at the 2013 NCAA East Preliminary Round in Greensboro, N.C., on the campus of North Carolina A&T. Carper posted a toss of 68.66 meters (225’3”), which ranks second all-time in the event in school history. On the 2013 season, Carper has produced each of the top five distances in school history in the javelin. He is a native of Altoona, Pa.
