Kushneriuk, Lewis Pick Up CHA Awards

Moon Township, Pa. ? A pair of Robert Morris University men's ice hockey players were honored Monday by College Hockey America as sophomore forward  Chris Kushneriuk (Ottawa, Ontario / Wayne State) was named the CHA Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman forward Trevor Lewis (Lititz, Pa. / Syracuse Stars) was tabbed the CHA Rookie of the Week. The duo put forth an impressive offensive effort, being part of nine of the 12 RMU goals scored over the weekend.

Kushneriuk, a transfer from Wayne State University, helped power the Colonial offense over the weekend that lit the lamp 12 times in two games. The sophomore had a hand in half of that offensive output scoring a pair of goals and adding four assists for a career high six-point weekend. Kushneriuk started off the weekend with a goal and an assist in Friday night's 5-4 loss to Quinnipiac before finishing the series with a goal and four assists in RMU's 8-5 win over the Bobcats on Saturday night.

Lewis picks up his second conference honor after posting a four point (1g, 3a) weekend. The rookie notched a pair of assists in RMU's 5-4 loss to Quinnipiac on Friday night. Lewis then tallied his first career power-play goal in Saturday night's win over the Bobcats and added a helper on the game-winning goal.

The Colonials hope to continue their road success at nationally ranked Princeton University on Monday evening.  Robert Morris will face the #9 Tigers in a 7:00 p.m. tilt at the historic Hobey Baker rink.  RMU will return home on Friday and Saturday for a pair against the CHA's first place team, Bemidji State.
