Field Hockey Announces 2009 Slate

Moon Township, Pa.  ? The Robert Morris University field hockey team, under the direction of head coach Olivia Netzler, will play a 15-game schedule during the 2009 season as they look to head to the Northeast Conference playoffs for the first time in Colonial field hockey history. The Colonials play five home contests while opening the season with six of the first seven games on the road.

 

The Colonials kick off the season at Missouri State on Sep. 4 against the Bears in Springfield, Mo. RMU will then continue the road trip with matches against St. Louis University (Sep. 5) and Bellarmine (Sep. 8) .

 

Robert Morris' first regular season home contest is against Ohio University on Sept. 18 at 1:00 p.m. in Joe Walton Stadium.

 

After just one home game, the Colonials will be back on the road in Washington D.C. as they face Georgetown on Sep. 20.  The trip will continue at Appalachian State on Sep. 25 and Radford on Sep. 27.

 

The month of October begins with three consecutive home contests and the start of NEC action.  RMU warms up with Bryant before conference games with Monmouth on Oct. 4 and Saint Francis (Pa.) on Oct. 9.

 

NEC action continues on the road with matches at Siena and 2008 conference champion, Lock Haven on Oct. 11 and Oct. 16.

 

On Friday Oct. 23, the Colonials will host Rider for Senior Day in their final non-conference match up of the 2009 campaign. 

 

RMU closes out conference play in Connecticut at Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart on Oct. 30 and Nov. 1.

 

After completing the 2008 season with a 5-12-0 record, the Colonials hope to make their first ever conference playoff appearance after finishing fifth the NEC last year.
