Moon Township, Pa. - A total of 18 members of the Robert Morris University women's rowing team were honored Wednesday for their achievements in the classroom as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced its 2011-12 Academic Honor Roll.
To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale. A total of 1,569 student-athletes were honored by the MAAC, covering 24 sports sponsored by the conference and including both full-time and associate members.
Sophomore Megan Coleman (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Northgate) leads the way for Robert Morris, as the actuarial science major has compiled a perfect 4.0 GPA through her first two years in college. Freshman Laura Mooradian (St. Catharines, Ontario / Denis Morris), meanwhile, owns a 3.94 GPA as a double major in both accounting and sport management.
In 2012, Robert Morris tied for fifth at the MAAC rowing championships at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. The Colonials, competing for a conference title for the first time in school history, finished with 13 points, tying with Canisius.
