Robert Morris University Cheerleading

RMU Cheerleading Team Website
Thank you for your interest in Robert Morris University cheerleading. This site will provide you with information about the Colonial cheerleading program. If you need further assistance, please contact head coach Cyndi Hadfield at cheerleading@rmu.edu.
The Robert Morris University cheerleading program consists of two cheer teams, Blue (all-girl) and White (open cheer). Due to varied amounts of commitment, both the Blue Team and White Team are combined to attend men's and women's basketball games, home and away football games and postseason travel for tournaments. This also means that individuals may be asked to fill in on either squad from time to time.
RMU Cheerleading Tryouts
Tryouts for the cheerleading team for the 2010-11 season will take place Saturday, April 17, 2010 on RMU's Moon Township campus. The tryouts will take place at the John Jay Center and will run from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. For requirements, see information below listed under both the Blue and White Teams.
Candidates for the cheerleading teams should wear shorts, T-shirt and cheer (tennis) shoes. Candidates will also be required to fill out an application that day and will perform the RMU fight song, which will taught that day, tumbling skills if trying out for the blue team, chant and stunts.
If you cannot attend the tryouts but still would like to be considered for the cheerleading team, please submit a DVD showing the above skills by Sunday, April 18, to head coach Cyndi Hadfield at the address below ...

BLUE TEAM
The all-girl team's main purpose is to cheer for men's basketball and football. The Blue Team practices twice a week and all members are required to attend a mandatory workout twice a week with the strength & conditioning coach.
Minimum tryout requirements include:
Tumbling - Minimum standing back-handspring and round-off back-handspring on the hardwood floor. All prospects will be required to do both skills at tryouts without a spot.
Stunting - Arabesque, Scale and Liberty (all women must be versatile and be able to base, back and or fly stunt). All women will be required to learn and perform at least two stunting positions.
WHITE TEAM
The OPEN White Team's purpose is to cheer for women's basketball and football.
Minimum tryout requirements (open to both males and females) include:
Co-ed Stunting - Basic skills, including toss shoulder sit and toss toe touch (all men must be willing to learn and advance).
Open Stunting - Elevator, Extension and Liberty.
Tumbling - No tumbling skills required, however, all members will be required to attend 30 minutes of tumbling practice per week (before and after regularly scheduled practice).
The decision to bring an individual up from the White Team to the Blue Team is that of the coaching staff. To be considered, all basic tumbling requirements must be done consistently on the hardwood floor at games.

• Must be enrolled at the University with 12 credit hours
• Must maintain a 2.0 grade point average
