Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's tennis team returned to action for the first time in over two weeks Tuesday with a 6-0 setback to Duquesne at the North Athletic Complex.
The Colonials slip to 4-13 overall in dual-match action on the 2011-12 campaign.
At the No. 1 singles spot, sophomore Carolina Mourao Teixeira (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) battled Vanessa Steiner before suffering a 6-3, 6-4 setback.
Freshman Kourtney Passero (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Central) fought hard at the No. 6 singles spot but dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Elise Carter.
Doubles action was not contested against the Dukes.
Robert Morris returns to action this weekend with a trio of Northeast Conference matches, visiting Monmouth, Wagner and St. Francis (N.Y.).
The Colonials square off with the Hawks Saturday, April 14, at 10:00 a.m. and will face the Seahawks and Terriers Sunday, April 15.
