The Game The No. 4 Robert Morris University Colonials (18-12) return to Fairlfield, Conn., for the second time in eight days, this time to take on the No. 1 Sacred Heart Pioneers in the semifinal round of the 2012 Northeast Conference Championships Presented by Ruby Tuesday. The Tuesday, March 6, game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. The Colonials had the Pioneers on the ropes in both regular-season meetings, but could not finish them off in either situation including an overtime loss last Monday. Musket Shots
The Series vs. Sacred Heart The Colonials trail, 7-16, in 23 games against Sacred Heart. The Pioneers have won three in a row and four of the last five. Robert Morris, however, is 2-0 against Sacred Heart in the playoffs, including a 68-66 win in the 2007 NEC title game. RMU is 3-9 all-time at the William H. Pitt Center. Spanou Earns All-NEC First Team Accolades Sophomore forward Artemis Spanou earned a spot on the All-NEC First Team as she averaged 17.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in the regular season. She is one of only 21 players in Division I averaging a double-double and is third nationally with 20 double-doubles. Spanou led the league in rebounding for the second consecutive season. Triple Double-Double ... or Seckstuple-Double? Three players - Artemis Spanou (25 pts, 14 reb), Josette Campbell (17 pts, 12 reb) and Mary Durojaye (15 pts, 17 reb) - all recorded double-doublesin the Colonials quarterfinal win over Saint Francis. It marked the first time since Feb. 5, 2007 that three players reached the stat marker. Psyché Butler (26 pts, 11 reb), Sugeiry Monsac (25 pts, 12 reb) and Chinata Nesbit (17 pts, 12 reb) did it against Fairleigh Dickinson. |
