RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (5/2/12)

While Nicole Sleith has put the RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor in her back pocket four times this season, the same can be said for the RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week accolade. Junior attack Jake Hayes of the lacrosse program earns his second straight and fourth honor of the 2012 spring season after helping lead the Colonials to a 13-12 victory over nationally-ranked Bryant (4/28/12) at Joe Walton Stadium this past weekend and the program's first Northeast Conference regular-season championship. In the win, the native of Calgary, Alberta, produced three goals and three assists, tying senior midfielder Kyle Buchanan for game-high honors in scoring. Hayes was tabbed the NEC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance and on the 2012 campaign is tied with senior midfielder Kiel Matisz for top honors on the team in scoring with 58 points. Hayes has compiled 36 goals and 22 assists.
