Robert Morris University men's golf team finds itself in seventh-place after
the second of three-rounds at the 2012 Northeast Conference Men's Golf
Championships at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Mount St. Mary's expanded upon the four-stroke lead it established
in round one, growing its hold on first-place to nine strokes with a 600 total
through two rounds. Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart both have scores of
609 and sit in second. Saint Francis (Pa.) is fourth (614) followed by LIU
Brooklyn and Central Connecticut State (618), Robert Morris (621), Monmouth
(627), Wagner (656) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (688).
Junior Brock Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) carded
15 pars and a birdie en route to a second round 73 that moved him just outside
the top-10. He sits 11th, pairing his one-over par round with yesterday's 79
and leaves him with a 152 total.
Junior Max Cahn (Nyack, N.Y. / Nyack) needed 79 strokes
to complete Saturday's 18-hole circuit and is now tied for 18th with a total of
155 strokes. Freshman Bo Lustig (Belle Vernon, Pa. / Belle Vernon) carded his
second consecutive round of 78 to put himself in 22nd position.
Freshman Ryan Prokay (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City)
struggled through the courses opening seven holes to the tune of nine-over par before playing the last 11 holes at one-over. His second round 82 puts him in
30th place with a 158. Junior Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) shot
an 83 Saturday, giving him 163 strokes for the event and putting him 42nd
overall.
The third and final round of the event tees-off at 8:00
a.m. Sunday, May 6.
