RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week (5/2/12)

Putting a strangehold on the RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2012 spring campaign has been freshman Nicole Sleith of the softball squad, who takes home her second straight honor and fourth of the season. The Smithton, Pa., native helped the Colonials clinch their sixth Northeast Conference regular-season championship last weekend with a pair of victories in the circle in a sweep of Central Connecticut State (4/29/12) at the North Athletic Complex. Sleith allowed just one earned run in a pair of complete-game victories against the Blue Devils, striking out 14 while walking just one and yielding eight hits. For those efforts she was named the NEC Pitcher of the Week and the NEC Rookie of the Week (4/30/12) for the second straight week and third time overall this season. On the 2012 campaign, Sleith owns a record of 22-10 from the circle with a 1.50 earned run average. She has compiled 217 strikeouts in just over 211 innings pitched and also owns five saves so far this season, a new RMU single-season record.
