Littlestown, Pa. / Quail Valley Golf Club - The Robert Morris University women's golf team tied Central Connecticut
State for first place at the 2012 Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational as both
teams used 974 strokes during the 54-hole event. Holding a two-stroke lead
heading into the final round at Quail Valley's 6,202-yard par-72 layout, the
Colonials shot a 328 in the third round while the Blue Devils came in with a
325. A one-hole playoff gave CCSU the first-place trophy.
Sophomore Alee Everman (Dayton, Ohio / Centerville) led
RMU from start to finish, shooting a final-round 80 to claim third place with a
237 total. She shot 79 and 78 in the first two rounds. Senior Elizabeth Wenger
(Toledo, Ohio / Whitmer) tied the lowest round of the tournament by firing a
two-over par round of 74 Tuesday. She vaulted herself into fifth place as she
accumulated 242 strokes for the event.
Junior Tess Wolfe (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk) earned
her second consecutive top-10 showing with a 247 total that resulted from
rounds of 78, 83 and 86. Junior Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery
Rock) was 12th following scores of 82, 78 and 88 that left her one shot outside
the top-10 finishers. Sophomore Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) was 29th
(88-93-92=273).
Playing as individuals, freshmen Sarah Weber (Hudson,
Ohio / Hudson) came in at 18th (90-82-86=258) and Tori Zachman (Hampstead, Md.
/ North Carroll) was 33rd (91-90-96=277).
