RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (4/25/12)

Taking home his third RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week accolade of the 2012 spring season is junior attack Jake Hayes of the lacrosse squad. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Hayes enjoyed a record-breaking afternoon in a 25-9 win over Quinnipiac (4/21) at Joe Walton Stadium. By finishing with nine points against the Bobcats, including five goals and a career-high four assists, Hayes established a new RMU single-game record. It marks the third time this season Hayes has found the back of the net at least five times and was also his 11th career hat trick. For his performance against Quinnipiac, Hayes was tabbed the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week (4/23) for the third time this year. On the 2012 campaign, Hayes leads Robert Morris in goals (37) while ranking second in points (52). He is the fourth Colonial on the 2011-12 campaign to earn RMU Student-Athlete of the Week honors three times, joining male recipients Velton Jones and Tip Worob and female honoree Nicole Sleith.
