Denny Urban (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ohio Blue Jackets) scored with 2:13 left in the third period to complete a Colonial (7-4-2, 6-4-2) rally from two goals down against Bentley. Robert Morris fell behind two goals after the Falcons (5-6-2, 4-3-1) scored with less than two minutes left in the first period and scored again less than a minute into the second period. "We need to stop putting ourselves in holes so we don't have to keep fighting back," head men's ice hockey coach Derek Schooley said. "We need to finish around the net. I hope we have not used up our resiliency card because we have had to battle back a lot this season."
The Falcons grabbed the early lead with an even-strength goal from Jeremy Robert with 1:23 remaining in the first period. Bentley made it a two score game early in the second period as Brett Gensler scored back door less than a minute into the period.
Robert Morris responded late in the second period as Nathan Longpre (Peterborough, Ontario / Mahoning Valley Phantoms) found the net for the seventh time this season to cut the Falcon lead to one with 1:19 left in the second frame. Robert Morris spent most of the early going in the third period on the penalty kill, as the Colonials picked up three early penalties. After the Colonials killed off three Bentley extra man opportunities, The Falcons earned a five minute major penalty with 2:55 left in the game.
Urban found the net off some solid passing from fellow seniors Longpre and Chris Kushneriuk (Ottawa, Ontario / Orleans Blues). Bentley picked up a second major penalty with 17 second left in regulation and spent all but 17 seconds of overtime on the penalty kill.
Brooks Ostergard (Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Bay State Breakers) made 22 saves for the Colonials while Joe Calvi made 32 for the Falcons including 14 in the first period.
