The Robert Morris University men's tennis
team earned its second straight win to open the 2011-12 season Tuesday afternoon
with a 5-2 victory over Allegheny at the North Athletic Complex.
Against the Gators, junior
Jose Limon (Colonia San Jose, Mexico) earned
a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Mike Provenzano at the No. 2 singles flight, while
sophomore Angus Thomson (Kedron, Australia)
needed three sets before dispatching Kevin Kacer, 7-5, 3-6 and 10-4, at No. 4.
Also earning singles victories for RMU against Allegheny were seniors Igor Neves (Ponta Pora, Brazil) and Aaron Haas (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Montour).
Neves defeated Frank Mosconi, 6-4 and 6-4, at the No. 5 singles flight, while
Haas knocked off Danny Jacobs in three sets, 4-6, 6-0 and 10-7, at No. 6.
In doubles action, Limon teamed up with junior Andre
Coiro (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) to post an 8-6 win over Patrick Cole
and Kacer, while Neves joined sophomore Ricardo Horlle
(Curitibia Parana, Brazil) for an 8-3 win over Mosconi and Dan
Conroy.
Robert Morris takes to the road for the first time on the 2011-12 campaign for
its next dual match, visiting Coppin State Friday, Sept. 30.
