In averaging 21.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in two games last week, junior guard April Williams of the basketball squad takes home the first RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week accolade of 2012. A native of the Bronx, N.Y., Williams hit four of her six shots from the field and was 5-of-8 at the free-throw line for 17 points in an 86-72 victory at Central Connecticut State (1/7/12). Two days later Williams was nearly unstoppable at Bryant (1/9/12), hitting nine of her 13 shots from the floor, including a 7-for-11 performance from downtown, to post a career-high 25 points against the Bulldogs. She also added four rebounds, four assists and three steals. In the two games, Williams shot 68.4 percent (13-for-19) from the field, including 68.8 percent (11-for-16) from long range. On the 2011-12 campaign, Williams is averaging 12.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest.
