After finishing fourth in the Northeast Conference
regular-season standings and advancing to the NEC Tournament semifinals, the
Robert Morris University (18-13) women's basketball team accepted a spot in the
Women's Basketball Invitational. The No. 1 seed in the East bracket, the
Colonials will travel to No. 8 Manhattan (16-15) for the first round game due
to a scheduling conflict at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The first-round game
of the 16-team event is slated to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 14. The
Jaspers finished third in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 10-8
record.

The Colonials have never played in the WBI, an
event that began in 2010
RMU has been invited to a post-season tournament
four times since 2007 - the 2007 NCAA Tournament, the 2008 NCAA Tournament, the
2010 WNIT and the 2012 WBI.
Junior F Artemis Spanou is one of 21 players in
Division I averaging a double-double. Nationally, Spanou is third with 20
double-doubles and stands 11th averaging 10.8 rebounds
Junior G Josette Campbell is averaging 18.4
points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.6 blocks over the last five games
Three of the NEC's top-10 scorers are Colonials
- Spanou (3rd, 17.0); Mary Durojaye (10th, 12.8); Briannica Tye (10th, 12.8)
RMU is 92-22 (.807) at the Sewall Center since
2004-05, including 61-12 (.836) in NEC games
The Series vs. Manhattan
Robert Morris and Manhattan have never faced off in
women's basketball competition. RMU head coach Sal Buscaglia was the head coach
at Manhattan from 1998-2003 but has never coached against the Jaspers.
Spanou Earns All-NEC First Team Accolades
Sophomore forward Artemis Spanou earned a spot on the
All-NEC First Team as she averaged 17.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in
the regular season. She is one of only 21 players in Division I averaging a
double-double and is third nationally with 20 double-doubles. Spanou led the
league in rebounding for the second consecutive season.
Durojaye Closes In On 1,000-Point Club
Senior center Mary Durojaye needs five points to become
the 18th player in team history to reach the 1,000 point plateau. Having
collected 500 rebounds as a junior, Durojaye would become the 12th player in
team history to both score 1,000 points and record 500 rebounds in their
career.
Triple Double-Double ... or Seckstuple-Double?
Three players - Artemis Spanou (25 pts, 14 reb), Josette
Campbell (17 pts, 12 reb) and Mary Durojaye (15 pts, 17 reb) - all recorded
double-doublesin the Colonials quarterfinal win over Saint Francis. It marked
the first time since Feb. 5, 2007 that three players reached the stat marker.
Psyché Butler (26 pts, 11 reb), Sugeiry Monsac (25 pts, 12 reb) and Chinata
Nesbit (17 pts, 12 reb) did it against Fairleigh Dickinson.
