In taking home both the Northeast Conference Player of the Week and the NEC Rookie of the Week accolade (3/26/12), freshman catcher Samantha Santillo earns the latest RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week accolade. A native of Ellwood City, Pa., Santillo helped lead Robert Morris to a 3-1 weekend with a doubleheader sweep of LIU Brooklyn (3/24/12) and a split with Wagner (3/25/12) by hitting .500 (8-for-16) with a pair of runs, six RBI, a double and a pair of home runs. In a 10-3 victory over the Blackbirds that helped the Colonials sweep the doubleheader, Santillo finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. The next afternoon in RMU's split with the Seahawks, Santillo exploded, finishing 5-for-8 at the dish with two runs, five RBI and a pair of home runs. Through 26 games of the 2012 campaign, Santillo is hitting .305 and ranks second on the club in RBI (13) and slugging percentage (.424).
