The Sports Information Office at Robert Morris University disseminates information to local and national media outlets for the University's 23 Division I intercollegiate sports. The office issues press releases, media guides, brochures and other promotional items, and the staff is available to assist members of the media in their coverage of RMU's intercollegiate sports teams.
Credentials are mailed to those covering the football, men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s ice hockey teams regularly and to others upon request. Passes can be held at the will-call gate of the venue of the sport you are covering. Credentials can be obtained by contacting the Sports Information Office.
Working areas for print and electronic media are located in the press box at Joe Walton Stadium and at court and rink side in the Charles L. Sewall Center and the RMU Island Sports Center. Programs, game notes, media guides, rosters, box score updates, halftime and final statistics and the complete play-by-play are provided at each game. Statistics are courtesy of the Stat Crew System.
Photographers with proper credentials are permitted to photograph any of RMU’s 23 intercollegiate sports in accordance with security policies. Contact the Sports Information Office for event credentials.
RMU football, men’s basketball and select women’s basketball games are broadcast live on WPIT-AM 730 (Pittsburgh, Pa.), the flagship station of Robert Morris University athletics since 1996. Football, men’s and women’s basketball and select ice hockey games can also be heard live or archived on the Internet. Visiting stations wishing to originate from the competition venue should contact the Sports Information Office and obtain approval from the sports information director.
Select football and men’s and women’s basketball home and road games are telecast live, while select home games are telecast on a delayed basis by RMU-TV, the student-run Robert Morris University television station.
A work area with phones is located at football, men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s ice hockey games and is open at all games. Media guides, game notes, programs and statistics will be made available in the media room.
Approximately 10 minutes after a contest, players and the head coach from the visiting team will be escorted to the media room by the sports information director. Afterward, the RMU head coach and select Colonial players will also be in the media room. The RMU locker room, regardless of sport, is closed for all home and away games. Reporter’s requests to speak with Robert Morris and opposing players will be gathered with five minutes remaining in each game.
Head coaches of the football, men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s ice hockey teams are available between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. weekdays by phone or in person. Interviews with RMU players and other coaches should be arranged through the Sports Information Office.
