South Florida Sweeps Pair from RMU

Tampa, Fla. - The Robert Morris University softball team continued its annual swing through the state of Florida Tuesday by dropping a pair of games at South Florida. The Colonials fell to 1-3 overall on the 2007 campaign by falling game one, 4-1, before dropping a 3-0 decision in the nightcap.

In game one Robert Morris was led by sophomore Brooke Panepinto (Belle Vernon, Pa. / Belle Vernon), who finished 3-for-3 with a run scored at the dish. Her run came on an RBI single from senior Danielle Cohen (Marlton, N.J. / Cherokee) in the top of the seventh. Cohen took the loss from the circle, allowing four earned runs in six innings of work. All four of the runs she allowed were earned and she struck out four while walking one.

In game two the Colonials got just three hits from their offense and sophomore Stacy Davidson (Akron, Ohio / Springfield) did a solid job from the circle, allowing just three earned runs on 10 hits while striking out four. The Bulls scored in each of their half of the first, second and third innings. Kristin Gordon did the rest for USF, yielding just three hits.

Robert Morris next takes part in the 2007 USF adidas Invitational at Clearwater, Fla., from March 8-10.
