FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Robert Morris University men's soccer team dropped a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons 3-1 at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
Sophomore Preston Rushmore recorded his first career collegiate goal for the Colonials in the loss as they fall to 1-7 on the season.
PFW tested RMU keeper Mike Zolnierczyk early, missing wide on a pair of strikes before Keith Larson's blast struck the post but stayed out.
RMU was able to weather the storm, however a foul in the box on the Colonials set the Mastodons up with a PK attempt in the 35' that Ali Nasser converted to make it a 1-0 lead.
They doubled it to 2-0 before the first half was out to put Robert Morris in the hole to start the second.
PFW pushed it to 3-0 courtesy of a Keith Larson goal in the 52'. While Rushmore's milestone goal cut the lead back down to two under two minutes later, it was all the offense the Colonials could muster as PFW held on for the 3-1 win.
