RMU Men's Soccer Heads to IU Indy for Horizon League Clash

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's soccer team begins a two-game road swing as they travel to face IU Indy on Saturday, September 21, at 3:00 PM in Horizon League action.
 
RMU RECENTLY
RMU (2-2-2, 0-0-1 #HLMSOC) is riding momentum after one of the biggest wins in program history, defeating #18 Duquesne 3-0. This victory marked the Colonials' first win over a ranked opponent since 2016, when they upset #24 Bowling Green 1-0. In the triumph over Duquesne, graduate midfielder Logan Gilley and sophomore defender Tim Koczulap each notched a goal and an assist, while Kosi Udeh added his first goal of the season. John Paul Mbuthia registered his first assist of the 2024 campaign. Between the posts, sophomore goalkeeper Josh Lane recorded his second consecutive clean sheet, bringing his career total to three. Lane, from Leicester, England, made four saves against Duquesne and has now gone 265 minutes without conceding a goal.
 
ALL-TIME VS. IU INDY
Since joining the Horizon League in 2020, RMU has faced IU Indy three times, with the Colonials holding a 2-1 advantage in the series. In the 2022 meeting, RMU cruised past IU Indy to a dominant 5-0 victory. In that game, Chase Gilley and Victor Koah each found the back of the net, while Connor Hain and Darren Gray provided assists.
 
SCOUTING IU INDY
IU Indy (3-2-1, 0-1-0 #HLMSOC) dropped their conference opener 2-0 to Wright State. Before entering league play, the Jaguars secured non-conference wins against Akron, Houston Christian, and Incarnate Word. Sophomore forward Jose Antonio Herrera leads IU Indy with three goals on the season, while junior defender Brady Horn has logged the most minutes, playing 522 minutes across six matches. Graduate goalkeeper Mason Taylor has started every game, collecting three wins, two shutouts and 33 saves.
 
ANASS CAN ASSIST
Junior midfielder Anass Hadran is making an impact this season, ranking second in the Horizon League with three assists. Last year's team leader in assists with four, the Moroccan native now boasts eight career assists.
 
UP NEXT
After facing IU Indy, the Colonials will stay on the road to take on St. Bonaventure on Tuesday, September 24, at 3:00 PM.
