MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's soccer team is set to continue its non-conference schedule against local rival Duquesne. The game is scheduled for this Sunday, August 24 at 5:00 PM at Rooney Field in Pittsburgh, Pa. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
RMU LATELY
RMU (0-0-1) began its 2025 campaign with a scoreless draw at Mercyhurst on Thursday. The Colonials' offense registered seven shots with three on target, while goalkeeper
Josh Lane was solid in net, making three saves to earn his first clean sheet of the season.
The match saw several new faces make their debuts, including transfers
Miguel Dominguez,
Kevin Gorbell,
Jack Bejarano,
Sullivan Twill,
Jaxson Lee,
Kyle Schueneman, and
Emeric Nicol, as well as freshmen
Royie Rahamim and
Matthew Eckersall.
ALL-TIME VS. DUQUESNE
Dating back to 1995, these two sides have played a total of 29 times, with RMU holding a 7-19-3 record against the Dukes. Five of RMU's wins against Duquesne have been shutouts, including last year's decisive 3-0 victory.
In that match, the first half remained scoreless before the Colonials' offense took control in the second half. Former Colonials

Kosi Udeh, all scored within a five-minute period to secure the win. The Colonials' offense tallied 16 shots and eight on target, while
Josh Lane made four saves to secure the clean sheet.
SCOUTING THE DUKES
Duquesne (1-0) also began its 2025 season on Thursday, defeating Seton Hill 3-0. Hákon Dagur Matthíasson played a huge role on offense, scoring the game-winning goal 10 minutes into the match and adding an assist on the second goal.
The Dukes are coming off an 11-4-2 overall record in 2024, with a 5-2-1 mark in Atlantic 10 play, before falling in the quarterfinals to Fordham. They return their second-leading goal scorer from last season, Jaxon Ervin, who produced three goals and four assists in 2024. He also scored in Duquesne's home opener against Seton Hill. As a team last year, the Dukes averaged 1.29 goals per game and allowed just 1.00 goals per game on average.
LOCAL CONNECTION
Both sides in this matchup have several student-athletes who played together in the offseason with Steel City FC, a semi-professional team in USL League Two. For the Colonials,

Victor Koah,
William Dodzi Afawubo, and
John Krug all played for the club. For the Dukes, Jaxon Ervin, Jack Emanuel, Luke Fiscus, Grant McIntosh, Ashwin Menon, and Ofek Sasson were members of the team this summer.
COMMON OPPONENTS
Both teams are scheduled to play Mount St. Mary's, St. Bonaventure, Saint Francis, Detroit Mercy, and Northern Kentucky this year.
